Google Webmaster Page for one page SEO guideJust caught wind of this attractive, one page cheat sheet from Google for beginning bloggers, new website owners, or businesses who just haven't had time to give search engine optimization (SEO) much thought. Google offered permission to, "read it, print it, share it, copy and distribute it!"

Aren't they nice? Download it yourself here: Google one-page SEO Guide

You Can Get Your Website to Rank for Your Keywords

Getting your website to rank higher in the search engines is your ticket to more organic (free) traffic. And don't let the SEO gurus tell you it's more complicated than it really is.

Yes, there's more to it than three tips straight from the horse's mouth (a horse called Google!). But if you do just these you'll be well on your way to a higher ranking. Especially keeping in mind local search. For example...

Google this:

german restaurant utica ny

Does my client, The Balkan/Hadley rank on page one? You can do it too.

How to Use Google's One Page SEO Guide

The first sentence at the top of the guide is critical: "Follow these simple steps to help Google understand the content on your site." The key..."understand." I've talked about the value of one topic, one Web page and how you can make it easy for Google and your visitors to understand your content.

Install the tips in this guide onto your Web pages and you'll make it easy for Google to know what your page is about. If you do it, your page ranking will improve.

Choosing the right domain name is important, but maybe too late for a lot of businesses. But there's more in this cheat sheet. Act on the Title Tags and blogging advice to help you generate traffic and convert visitors to customers.

And the often forgotten Meta Description (I provide my clients with Meta Descriptions for all the pages I write) and Alt Tags for your images. Remember, Google can't "see" images, it only reads text. (That's one of the reasons I don't like sliders on the Homepage, but that's for another post.)

So, even if you're not a beginner, this cheat sheet will help. As to more advanced SEO or starting your blog, just give me a call at 315.738.1890 or get in touch here and we can evaluate your website.

The upshot it, if you can get found in the search engines, you can compete with the big boys.

Until next time,
