Donald Trump is in the news…EVERYWHERE! He’s the buzz on TV, my favorite news blogs, talk radio.

Donald Trump? What? Yes, he is a famous, outspoken real estate mogul, billionaire, reality TV star. But leading the polls as candidate for president?

What’s his secret?

You’ll be hearing a lot about this in the coming weeks…his authenticity. (Check out idea expert (and my brother) Will Burns's column in Forbes.) Many are saying that this is the thing fueling his most unlikely political success story. His refreshing boldness in telling it like it is. Brashly unequivocal in the way he sees it. No cliché driven, euphemistic, middle of the road political rhetoric for him.

His completely unforeseen rise in popularity during this presidential campaign is being analyzed as a case study in the power of personal authenticity. He is not false or copied. Donald Trump is genuine and real.

The American electorate seems to be craving this kind of “tell it like it is” honesty that they believe we haven’t seen from our political leaders in a long time. Maybe never.

But it isn’t just Republican voters voicing their approval for the genuine article. Take Bernie Sanders, who supposedly committed political suicide by announcing that, yes, he is a Socialist!! Political poison coming from the Democratic candidate. But wait, he’s drawing the largest crowds by far to his rallies in this year’s campaigns.

So what can we learn from these two political revolutionaries in 2015?

Try Dropping the Clichés and Tell It Like It Is on Your About Us Pages

What can you tell your customers and prospects that’s believable and authentic that will draw them in to you and away from your competition?

I’m looking over my own About Us page in light of Donald Trump and his success. What can I say that might upset my competition but attract clients to my online copywriting?

Let’s channel The Donald:

Hmmm…that felt good!

Try a little stream of consciousness writing channeling Trump. Or Bernie Sanders for a less “in your face” approach. Pretend you’re speaking to clients or prospects at a rally firing them up for your campaign. Get them to believe in your ideas with your words…give them the authentic you and see what you come up with.

I’ll bet you can juice up that About Us page and watch your poll numbers…I mean leads…soar!
