The Web has blown traditional marketing out of the water. Internet marketing is cheaper, faster, and much, much more targeted than old-fashioned advertising. That's because with traditional advertising (TV, radio, print), your company pushes its message out into a largely disinterested audience. The hope is your pitch will stick with at least a small percentage.
But online, your customers find you through the search engines!
That means customers drive the World Wide Web, not companies. The visitor centric, interactive nature of the internet has turned traditional advertising on its head. And that means EVERY business who wants to remain competitive has to start thinking about internet marketing in 2013.
The thing is, for many marketers, publishing effective, useful, and persuasive content online is a brand new idea. Few yet understand the myriad content marketing opportunities available to them and their companies.
So in the pioneer spirit, use this list of ideas published by the Content Marketing Institute (click here for the complete list) as a starting point on an exciting journey exploring the world of 21st century marketing. Note what interests you in this new frontier, what catches your eye relative to your unique business. Do some research (Google it!) and consider how you might implement some elements of content marketing into the mix in 2013.
Don't worry if you're not familiar with everything on the list. Heck, the Coca Cola Journey link in Item # 10 has only been up for a month. Content marketing is new to everyone!
(That Coca Cola Journey is a must read as it offers you a unique insight into why this company launched a content marketing program.)
Last week I pointed out my partiality to Idea #5 about better public speaking. As sometimes the stars nicely align, Utica area speaking pro Fred Ashforth is holding a seminar this Friday, December 07 on just that.
But there's lots more in this list of ideas with links to info on other sites and the Content Marketing Institute. So this month read, consider, explore as you get used to the new marketing paradigm in 2013.
And, as always, get in touch with me anytime to talk about your company and the exceptional opportunities available to you next year for your content marketing program.
Until next time,
Nick
