Your Website & How to ‘Pack ‘Em In’ Like The Uptown Grill

October 18, 2010 by

The Uptown Grill...one of Utica's favorites. You know the type. Nothing fancy but great food at terrific prices. Actually, "nothing fancy" is dressing it up a bit. The tables, booths, and bar were plain rundown.

The thing is, the food was wonderful. They had a terrific chef, Brad, whose lamb chops were thick and perfectly cooked. Fresh fish on Friday and Fillet Mignon you could cut with a fork.

And the place was jammed...all the time.

The Uptown Grill is a good lesson for your website marketing. It was a rundown neighborhood pub, but the wonderful food and good prices packed them in just the same. It's amazingly similar with your website.

That's because great content is like great food cooked to perfection...it packs them in. Clearly written, interesting Web pages attract free search traffic and engage visitors. It's what they come for and so it makes you money!

The problem is it's usually a website's design that gets most of the attention. Because content often ends up an afterthought, the copy can be pretty poor. It's like those fancy chain restaurants with all the bells and whistles and lousy food. Neat looking curios on the walls, fancy cocktails from the bar...and indigestion on your way out.

Businesses don't have to worry, though.  Like Brad the Chef at the Uptown, there are Web writers who know how to prepare content that will 'pack 'em in' to your website.

Soon, in an upcoming post, I'll offer you some tips on how to hire a Web writer who's right for your business. (And hopefully that Web writer will be me!)

In the meantime, savor those local restaurants with great food, good prices, and warm company. They're a real treasure. And if you are ever lucky enough to visit Utica, NY, I'll let you in on some of the best in the country.

Until next time,

Nick
